The rheumatoid factor test is a blood test that helps doctors rule out rheumatoid arthritis, since psoriatic arthritis usually comes back negative on this marker. It's one piece of a larger puzzle used to sort out which type of inflammatory arthritis someone has. A negative result doesn't rule out psoriatic arthritis at all — quite the opposite, in fact.
